Speaker 1:

Hello, you are listening to it Only Takes a Spark podcast with Pastor Mike. This podcast is designed to be a discipleship support for the busy parent of a child, to spark a fruitful conversation. From a little spark may come a flame. Now let the sparks fly. Boys and girls, I am so excited that you have joined me today and I want to come to you with a simple question how can you spend time with others in a meaningful way?

Speaker 1:

You see, in Mark, chapter 2, in verse 1 through 12, the fame of Jesus had spread all over the region and so many people wanted to see him and see what he was doing. And in our story he was found in a town called Capernaum teaching God's word in a house. And the house became so filled with people that no one else could even get in the door. So men heard that Jesus was in town and they had a friend that needed him desperately. He needed to be healed of his inability to walk, and when they got to the house they were not able to get inside. So they decided to lower him down to the roof right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, the Bible says he said to the man your sins are forgiven. There were some that didn't like what had happened, but what mattered most was that that day, this man was healed of his infirmity.

Speaker 1:

You see, boys and girls, the application to this story helps us to understand that the need our friends have is desperate. This man needed to see Jesus and nothing was going to stop him from them getting their friend to him. So who in your life is someone that helps you get closer to Jesus? Just as they spent time with you, you can spend time with others and help them as well. Can you spend time praying for them or perhaps comforting each other and saying encouraging words? Let us pray today together. Lord Jesus, help us this day to live by your word. Thank you for choosing us. Thank you for helping us to get closer to you and sending others our way in order for us to get closer to you and to understand you. Thank you for forgiving us of our sin and healing us from what holds us down. Help us to learn to help others in your precious name, amen.
