Speaker 1:

I have a question for you how can we use the gifts that God has given us to serve others, like Jesus did? We turn to a book called Romans, found in your Bibles, chapter 12, verse 3 through 8, where the story talks about the Bible times when followers of Jesus had tried their very best, really, really hard, to figure out how they could serve other people like he had been doing. This letter to the Romans that the Apostle Paul wrote was no exception. Paul writes about the gifts that God has given everyone. These gifts are not Lego sets and dolls and computer games and phones, but they are still valuable. Paul, in the text, writes about having a great understanding of the word as a gift, having the ability to lend helping hands to others as a gift, giving comforting words and being kind and giving people all that they are in need of as being gifts and all other means of ministering to others in various ways are included.

Speaker 1:

Each one of us has been given different gifts that God has given us, has been given different gifts that God has given us Children. God has given you gifts that will make a difference to someone in your life. Now it's up to you, parents and or guardians, to help our children to discover what these God-given gifts are in their lives. Let us consider the story of Jesus washing the feet of his friends. This was Jesus showing them how to serve others with his abilities. It doesn't require a lot of us to do good things, oftentimes for others. We just have to do it. Let us pray, lord Jesus, help us today to live by your word. Thank you for the gifts that you have given us to make a difference in the world you've placed us in. Help us to recognize the opportunities you bring to us to make that difference for someone that we love. Amen.
