This episode delves into how bringing children to Jesus and seeking His blessing can profoundly influence their spiritual growth. We discuss the historical tradition of mothers seeking blessings from guest rabbis and how this practice still holds significant relevance today, especially in the face of modern challenges like divorce and family disruptions.

Through personal anecdotes and heartfelt prayers, we emphasize the lasting impact of a praying mother and the grace that comes with it. Whether you're a parent yourself or someone who cares deeply about children's spiritual well-being, this episode will inspire you to appreciate and perhaps even adopt the practice of parental prayer as a guiding light for the next generation. Let's embrace the spiritual legacy of a praying parent and recognize the importance of being sensitive to divine callings in shaping a brighter future.

Speaker 1:

Boys and girls, moms and dads, I'm excited you have decided to join me today in listening to this podcast. I wanted to ask you a question. Did you know it's a powerful help and grace of God in restoring your future mistakes when, as parents, we pray for our children? You see, in the book of Matthew, chapter 19, verses 13 through 14, we read, and it says that then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and to pray for them. But the disciples began to rebuke them and Jesus said in verse 14, let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. You see the reason for this. It was common for mothers to bring their infants and other children to the temple for the rabbis to pray and to bless them. The mothers believed that the prayer, the blessing of Christ would be profitable to those unconscious infants, the ones sleeping. Jesus would have been a guest rabbi at the time. And since divorce was destroying so many families and this destruction of the sanctity of marriage and the degradation of women would interfere with the idea of the home and the family life, Because of this, because of his high regard of marriage, the wives would have been drawn to his teaching.

Speaker 1:

Christian mothers can do so much for the spiritual good of their children. Their prayers are learned. Their honoring of the Lord will often return to their memory many, many years later. These memories are. By the grace of God, Don't discount the power of a praying mother. Let's pray together. Lord Jesus, we pray you. Help us today to live by your word. Lord, we thank you for the blessings of a praying mother. We ask you today to help us to be sensitive to your call. Lord, bless the parents of our children and help them to know the importance they play in the spiritual development of their kids. Amen.
