Boys and girls, moms and dads, I'm excited you decided to join me today in listening to this podcast. I've got a question for you. How can we in our daily lives this question pertains to the parents mostly how, in our daily lives, can we ensure that the commandments that we hold so dear are not only in our hearts, moms and dads, but are actively impressed upon the hearts of our children? You see, in the Bible, in the book of Deuteronomy, chapter six, verse six through seven, it says these commands. Now, right before this particular scripture, in chapter five we find the commandments. But Deuteronomy, chapter 6, verse 6 through 7, gives us this command. So these commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them, he says, on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Speaker 1:This scripture gives us clear instructions about the repetition that is required in teaching our children the truths of the word of God. Who will teach them? How will they know if we don't make that a point to do that in our lives? You see, chapter five gave us the 10 commandments that god gave moses to deliver to the children of israel. And now here in chapter 6, the writer expounds on the concept of loving the lord, your god. Moses understood it wasn't enough for them to simply just remain in a book on a shelf somewhere, but that the children would truly begin to learn them. He tells them to impress the words to your children Interesting word used here.
Speaker 1:I found this word impress meaning to affect deeply, affect deeply Parents and guardians. It's our job to teach and impress the word of God to our children. However, if you don't, who will you see? One commentator said it this way. He said rub them in by repetition. What's he talking about? Rub in the truths of the word, rub in the truths of the word, rub in, rub in the scripture, rub it in with repetition. Continuing to do this all their days? Let's pray, father lord jesus. We come to you, we thank you, we pray to help us to live by your word. Today, as always, be asked that you help them. Uh, those of us responsible for teaching children the importance of repetition, to teach and to sharpen them with the Word of God. Lord, we ask this in your precious name, amen.
