Speaker 1:

Boys and girls, moms and dads, I'm so excited you decided to join me today with this podcast. I have a question for you what has Jesus asked you to do? In Luke, chapter 5, verses 1 through 11, we recount a story about the miraculous catch of fish. The narrative begins with Jesus teaching by the Sea of Galilee, where a great crowd gathers to hear the word of God. And seeing the two boats at the water's edge, jesus steps into Simon Peter's boat and asks him to push out a little from the shore. And then he sits down and he begins to teach the people from the boat. And after speaking, jesus instructs Simon Peter to put out into the deep and let down the nets for a catch. And although Simon Peter initially was skeptical, he began to do what he was told to do. When Simon and his companions followed Jesus' instructions, we learned that they catch such a great number of fish that their nets begin to break. They catch such a great number of fish that their nets begin to break, they signal to the other partners and they also fill their boats with fish to the point of nearly sinking. So, astonished by the miraculous catch, peter falls to the knees of Jesus and he begins to understand he's a sinful man. And Jesus says don't be afraid. From now on, you will fish for people.

Speaker 1:

Simon Peter, along with James and John, the sons of Zebedee, leave everything behind and follow Jesus, becoming his first disciples. What a great, great story. What a great story about obedience and following. We learn here that, peter, he doubted the instructions, but yet he decided to obey. What a great decision he made. Because of his decision, he had a great abundance of fish to be caught. The lesson here is to trust, to follow his guidance, no matter what the past has to say. Let us pray together. Lord Jesus, we pray you. Help us today to live by your word. We ask that you help us to be ready to be willing to do exactly what you asked us to do. Help us not to doubt and teach us to obey your every word, no matter our circumstances and our situations. We give you the praise in Jesus' name, amen.
