Hope Rises
Hope persists even in our darkest moments—this is the profound message at the heart of the crucifixion and resurrection story. As we journey through Matthew's account of these sacred events, we discover that Jesus's path from the cross to the empty tomb offers more than just historical significance; it provides a deeply personal blueprint for navigating our own seasons of suffering.
The narrative unfolds with Christ carrying his cross to Golgotha, giving his life amid darkness and earthquake. The temple veil tears from top to bottom—God's dramatic demonstration that the barrier between humanity and divine presence has been eliminated by his initiative, not ours. Then comes the moment that changed everything: dawn breaks on the third day, revealing an empty tomb and a risen Savior. Death defeated. Silence transformed to joy.
From this sacred story emerge three quiet truths that can settle into your soul today. First, Jesus meets us in our pain because he has walked through suffering himself. Second, God tore the veil, showing his desire for relationship with us. Third, the tomb remains empty, a permanent testament that resurrection power continues to operate in our world. Perhaps you're in a season where hopes, dreams, and even your sense of God's presence feel buried. Remember this: with Jesus, resurrection is always possible. What feels final is never truly final in his hands. The spark of new life already burns within you—will you live like it's true?

Hello friends and welcome back to the podcast. Today we're sitting on one of the most sacred stories of all the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus, found in Matthew, chapter 27, verse 27, and all the way through chapter 28, verse 10. These verses carry grief, glory, heartbreak and healing, but more than anything, they carry the topic of hope. So let's take a moment, parent or a child, and breathe in and invite God to speak to your heart during this sacred time and encourage us today as we dive in. Jesus was handed over to be crucified, mocked, stripped and crowned with thorns. The soldiers led him away and he carried his cross all the way to a hill called Galgotha. There he gave his life. The sky grew dark, the earth shook and with his final breath, the veil in the temple tore top to bottom. But that wasn't the end. At dawn on the third day, two women came to the tomb. An angel appeared and rolled the stone away, and the tomb was found empty. Jesus had risen, just as he said he would.
Speaker 1:This story is more than just history. It's personal. The cross is where Jesus took everything dark, heavy and hopeless and made a way through it. The empty tomb is an assurance that no night will last forever, that no night will last forever.
Speaker 1:Today I wanted to share three quiet truths from the scripture. Let them settle into your soul, into your being. Number one Jesus meets us in our pain. Jesus didn't escape suffering, he entered it. He knows betrayal, he knows physical pain, he knows what it feels like to cry out to God. If you're hurting today, jesus knows more about that pain and he wants to meet you there. You're not alone. Number two God tore the veil. When Jesus died, the veil in the temple, the one that kept people from God's presence, was torn in two. Not just torn, but from top to bottom. Think about it. The top of the veil, which no one could have reached and done anything to manipulate, was torn from the top to the bottom. Not the bottom up, but the top to bottom. God did it, not a man. And number three the tomb is still empty. The tomb is still empty. Think about it. The angel said he is not here, he is risen. That moment changed everything. Death was defeated, despair gave way to joy, silence gave way to the voice of the risen Savior.
Speaker 1:Maybe you're in a season where it feels like things have been buried and hopes have been buried and dreams have been buried, but maybe even your sense of closeness with God seems to be non-existent. I want you to hear me in this, jesus. With Jesus, resurrection is always possible. Bringing things from the dead and bringing them to new life is always possible. What feels final is not final, not with Jesus.
Speaker 1:Let's take just a moment and end in this moment we've had together and pray and just ask the Lord to help us to understand these truths that we've spoken today. Jesus, thank you for the cross, thank you for the empty tomb, thank you for choosing love, Thank you for choosing me. Father, I pray God today that we rest in the truth that you're alive. Because of that we have hope. Remind us that, no matter how dark it gets, the light of resurrection is still burning. It only takes one spark and you've placed that spark within us. Help us to live like it's true. In your name we give you praise Amen. Help us to live like it's true. In your name. We give you praise Amen.
