When We Can't See, But Still Believe
What does it truly mean to have faith? Faith is that peculiar confidence that allows us to trust in something we cannot see—like a child certain their birthday celebration is coming, even without seeing the cake.
Drawing from Hebrews 11, we explore the profound definition that "faith is being sure of what we hope for. It is being sure of what we do not see." This seemingly paradoxical statement forms the foundation for understanding spiritual trust at its deepest level. Faith isn't about having all the answers; it's about knowing God's character well enough to trust His guidance even when the path forward isn't visible.
Throughout history, ordinary people demonstrated extraordinary faith. Noah constructed an enormous boat on dry land, trusting rain would come. Abraham journeyed to an unknown destination simply because God promised to show the way. Moses led an entire nation toward an impassable sea, believing God would create a path. Each story reveals the same truth—they didn't have complete information, but they had complete trust in God's faithfulness.
The seed-planting metaphor perfectly captures faith's essence. When you place a tiny seed in soil, you can't yet see the flower or tree, but you trust in the natural process that will eventually produce growth. Similarly, faith allows us to believe in God's promises before they visibly manifest in our lives. Today's spark reminds us that "Faith doesn't mean we know everything. It means we know God"—and knowing His character gives us confidence to trust His perfect timing and purposes.
Are you waiting for something important? Feeling uncertain about what's happening around you? Remember that God sees the complete picture and works all circumstances for your ultimate good. Join us as we explore what it means to develop unshakable faith in an unseen but ever-faithful God.
Hey there, friends, welcome back to the podcast. Glad you decided to join me. Have you ever believed in something, even when you couldn't see it? Maybe you believed your birthday party was coming, even though you couldn't see the cake yet. That's a little bit what faith is all about?
Speaker 1:Hebrews chapter 11 found in the Bible says faith is being sure of what we hope for. It is being sure of what we do not see. Whoa, let's slow down a minute and look at this. Faith means trusting in God even when we can't see everything he's doing. It's believing that his promises are true, even when they can't be seen and have not happened yet. Imagine you're planting a seed. When you put the tiny seed in the dirt, you can't see the plant yet, but you believe, you know that one day that flower, that tree, that plant is going to grow. You see, that's kind of like faith. You trust something's good and you trust it's coming, even if it's still hidden for a while.
Speaker 1:The Bible's packed full of people who had big, amazing faith and they trusted God. Like a man by the name of Noah, he built a giant boat, an enormous boat, even though it hadn't started raining yet and it was going to flood. He believed what God had said. Abraham moved to a new land even though he did not know where he was going. But God said I'll show you. Moses led the people out of Egypt, out of a terrible situation of bondage, and he trusted God would make a way. Even when he had to split the sea because there was no other way around it, god came through. They didn't see everything right away, but they believed God anyway. And guess what? God was faithful every single time. So here's today's spark.
Speaker 1:Faith doesn't mean we know everything. It means we know God. Faith doesn't mean we know everything. It means we know God and we can trust him because he always keeps his promises and does what he says. So even if you're waiting on something or you don't understand what's happening all around you, you can still have faith and trust in the Lord, because God sees the big picture. He knows he's working all things out for your good. All things out for your good. All things out for your good. All right, that's enough for today. Let's pray. Father. We thank you for those that have decided to listen and to engage in this, this teaching today, this devotional. I pray, lord, that you will encourage them, help them to trust you, lord. Whoever may hear this, that God, if they are looking for something or trusting something's going to happen, god give them the faith to believe that it will happen in your purpose, in your will, in your time. We're careful to give you the praise, glory and honor in Jesus' name, amen.
